Nothing says summer like a three-day weekend heading to the beach, sunbathing by the pool or even attending your local hot spot (pun intended). Here at Agency Guacamole, we value a work-life balance because hey, life is too short not to!

Originating in 1960s NYC advertising agencies, Summer Fridays were designed to allow employees a few extra three-day weekends, allowing these creatives to come back on Mondays rejuvenated and refreshed.

Here we are, almost 65 years later, following the same sentiment! AG team members can choose Fridays between Memorial Day and Labor Day to officially set their OOO emails and close their laptops, but not before updating their Slacks with the only appropriate away message: 🌴

Check out what some of our team members have done on their Summer Fridays this year:

Savanna

Senior Manager, Influencer Partnerships & Content

As the countdown to her wedding begins, Savanna takes full advantage of her Summer Fridays to make sure planning is in motion, but she doesn’t rule out fun when doing so. For one of her Summer Fridays, she made a trip to her wedding venue in San Luis Obispo to shop, eat at local restaurants and, of course, get some swimming in while approving the final touches on her special day.

Neeka

Jr. Account Coordinator

Life in NYC can get overstimulating, so Neeka is always on the lookout for activities that offer a sense of calm while allowing her to express her creativity. Since moving to the big city, she’s discovered a special art workshop called Recreate Collective in Brooklyn and attended their still-life drawing class, meeting some truly kind and inspiring people. They spent time learning the art of still-life drawing by sketching the objects arranged before them with guidance from the instructor. The atmosphere was incredibly welcoming and judgment-free, making it an exuberant way to connect with other creatives in the area.

Erin

Assistant Manager, PR & Influencer Partnerships

For her latest Summer Friday, Erin decided to get a little R&R and practice self-care, spending the day at Hermosa Beach, enjoying the California sun. As a beach tradition, she always grabs a sandwich from Jersey Mikes and packs her favorite books to spend a day laying out on the beach. After she’s fully soaked in the sun, she takes a nice stroll on their pier and grabs some ice cream to end her day.

Adriana

Executive Assistant & Office Manager

This summer, Adriana has been making the most of her Summer Fridays, catching rays and soaking up some vitamin D. She took a break from the sun lounger on her latest Summer Friday, as she and her family went to see bachata band Aventura, and wowβ€”what a night! The performance was top-notch, the vocals were spot-on and the vibes were electric. It was pure joy, dancing and fan-girling. If every Friday could be like this, Adriana would be one happy camper! πŸŒžπŸ’ƒπŸŽΆ

Cassie

Creative Project Manager

When you can’t time travel, you have to get creative. Cassie spent one of her Summer Fridays at the Lafayette Hotel in her hometown, San Diego. It has an art deco-style flair, from their old school diner to fringed lobby chairs and custom umbrellas at the pool to give you the ultimate escape from modernity. A walk downstairs sends you to a dark-lit Oaxacan restaurant, making you feel like you’re in a cathedral in Italy while a 1920s New York-inspired bowling alley is just around the corner. It’s a place for those who want a vintage-inspired getaway with fabulous drinks and endless rooms to explore.

Alexa

Manager, PR & Influencer

Alexa tacked on one of her Summer Fridays to her annual summer trip! This Summer Friday, she started her day at London’s Sketch restaurant, followed by shopping at the city’s most well-known department stores, Selfridges and Harrods. She saw all the sights, including Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. To end her day, she stumbled upon an outdoor Olympic viewing area at Battersea Power Station, complete with food vendors, photo opps and more! This was the perfect transition into her next stop – Paris for the 2024 Olympics!

Let us know how you spent your Summer Friday!
